Mentions - Reference Your Assets in Chat
Mentions let you reference any of your Toffu assets directly in chat. Type @ and select from your knowledge sources, memories, playbooks, competitors, and more - giving Toffu instant context without explaining everything from scratch.
What are Mentions?
Mentions are a fast way to pull specific context into your conversations. Instead of describing what you want Toffu to reference, you can directly point to it.
Without mentions:
Use the brand guidelines document I uploaded last week to review this copy
With mentions:
Use @Brand Guidelines to review this copy
The mention links directly to the asset, so Toffu knows exactly what you're referring to.
How to Use Mentions
- Type @ anywhere in the message input - a dropdown appears with your assets
- Search by continuing to type after @ to filter the list
- Select by clicking or using arrow keys + Enter - it appears as a blue pill
- Send your message with the mention included

Tips for Effective Mentions
Name your assets clearly
Good asset names make mentions more useful. "Q4 2024 Marketing Report" is easier to find than "Report Final v2".
Use mentions for specificity
When you have multiple similar assets, mentions eliminate ambiguity about which one you mean.
Combine mentions with clear instructions
The mention provides context, but your message should still explain what you want done with it.
Good:
Use @Competitor Pricing Analysis to identify 3 pricing advantages we should highlight in our sales deck
Less effective:
@Competitor Pricing Analysis
Build on previous work
Mentioning past sessions or existing analyses lets you continue work without re-explaining the background.
Mentions vs. Knowledge
Both Mentions and Knowledge give Toffu context, but they work differently:
Use both together: Knowledge for always-available context, Mentions when you need Toffu to focus on something specific.
