When analyzing competitors or writing competitive content, follow these rules.

Main Competitors

  1. Jasper — AI writing tool focused on content generation
  2. Copy.ai — AI copywriting for marketing teams
  3. Writer — AI writing platform for enterprises

Analysis Framework

Cover these five areas for each competitor:

  1. Positioning — How do they describe themselves? What's their main promise?
  2. Strengths — What do they do better than us? Be honest.
  3. Weaknesses — Where do they fall short?
  4. Pricing — How does their pricing compare? What's the value perception?
  5. Audience — Who are they targeting? Where's the overlap with our audience?

Rules

  • Never trash competitors — acknowledge their strengths, then differentiate
  • Focus on what we do differently, not what they do wrong
  • Use specific comparisons ("we do X, they do Y") not vague claims ("we're better")
  • Always back claims with evidence: features, pricing, reviews, case studies
  • Update competitive data quarterly — old data is worse than no data
